TO OBTAIN AN AGE WAIVER FOR OUT-OF-SCHOOL 16- OR 17-YEAR-OLDS:
Those age 16 or 17 must read and comply with the instructions on the age waiver request form and have their parent/guardian complete and sign
the form (click HERE for the printable form/instructions). Sixteen-year-olds have additional restrictions set by the State of Mississippi available on the Mississippi Adult Education website. The form must filled out completely and signed appropriately before it is returned. Students who are currently enrolled in K-12 school are not eligible unless they are enrolled in a school district's "GED Options" class, in which case their teacher will handle obtaining the waiver.
Do a one-time set up of a test-taker (GED - ged.com) account
online as described above before returning the completed form and documentation.
Then, mail or email the completed request form/documentation along with the required photo ID (see below) to
the Grenada Adult Education Center's email (to email@example.com) or mailing address (Grenada Adult Education Center, Attn: Age Waiver Request, 423 S. Line St., Grenada, MS 38901) .
You must also send a legible copy of your valid (unexpired), government-issued photo ID with this completed form. Your testing account name and date of birth must exactly match your legal name and date of birth on your photo ID.
Underage students should include proof of official withdrawal from their last K-12 school attended with the documentation required.
The age waiver/alert automatically generated by the testing account
must be approved by the local site manager or the state office before the option to
schedule testing will appear in the test-taker's online account. For
those with a Grenada County address, our front office must also get a
verification form that the student is not currently enrolled in the
Grenada School District, even if that was not the reported last school
attended. By law, no one under the age of 16 may test.
